DeCal

Berkeley in the Global Food System

a Decal course for your spring 2011 semester!

This course will analyze the social, economic, and environmental spheres of food and agriculture systems and assess contemporary issues and potential solutions to these problems. Class meetings will feature guest lectures and discussions with professors, experts, and leaders active in the field. The course includes a major service learning component where Cal students will go to our community's elementary schools and teach 5th graders about nutrition and environment. This class is a great way for Food Collective members to explore in greater depth the broader context within which the Food Collective operates, and the underlying reasons for providing and promoting food that is community-based, fair, humane, and ecologically-sound.
